You can enhance STK simulations through the use of terrain and imagery to increase the visual impact of the 2D and 3D Graphics windows. You can stream terrain and imagery into these windows, or you can base them on locally hosted regional tilesets. Here is how to get started using these different options.
Online
Natively, when connected to the internet, STK will stream in both Microsoft Bing Maps imagery and AGI World terrain data.
Local network
When your computer is not connected to the internet, you can connect STK to local streaming servers for terrain and imagery feeds by using the
Geospatial Content Server (GCS). GCS includes terrain and imagery for the entire Earth, including Sentinel-2 imagery. For more information on using STK in this mode, see
Does STK Support Streaming Terrain and Imagery with Local Data (Offline)?.
Disconnected or small sections of imagery or terrain tiles
STK can also render individual terrain and imagery tiles from a large number of
different file formats. Try out this
sample of known terrain and imagery sources that AGI has experience with. AGI also offers terrain and imagery files for download through the Terrain, Imagery, and Maps (TIM) capability.
STK supports many different terrain and imagery file formats within STK. For instructions on how to add these files to your scenario, see
