QuestionWhat are the differences among the ODTK license types?
Answer

ODTK 7.2 and older

There are three different ODTK 7.2-and-older license types. These are all purchased separately. You manage these licenses using the legacy STK License Manager.
  1. ODTK Single enables you to estimate the state of one satellite at a time. If you have two or more satellites that you want to estimate, you have to run them sequentially. You can still have two or more satellites in a scenario simultaneously, but ODTK can only estimate the state of one satellite. That means the other satellites must use reference ephemeris.
  2. ODTK Multisatellite (MSS) gives you all the capabilities of ODTK Single but also enables you to estimate the state of two or more satellites simultaneously. The advantage is that if a shared set of trackers are tracking the satellites, then by processing them simultaneously you can get better insight into the common measurement biases and statistics. The simultaneous solution enables you to calculate the relative covariance between two satellites. This is very useful in rendezvous and proximity operations, where the absolute orbit accuracy isn't nearly as important as the relative accuracy. A typical MSS flies several satellites using a common tracking network such as the NASA GN, SN, DSN, or the AFSCN. Classic GEO operators may have many satellites and ground stations, but the ground stations are typically dedicated to a single satellite and are not shared. Thus they would most likely just need an ODTK Single license for each satellite.
  3. ODTK GNSS gives you all the capabilities of ODTK MSS but also enables you to estimate an entire GNSS constellation, for example the GPS satellites or Galileo satellites. This includes the orbit, solar radiation pressure, and clock states on each of the GNSS satellites. This requires a custom three-day training course from AGI.

ODTK 7.3 and newer

There are two different ODTK 7.3-and-newer license types: types 2 and 3 from above. The ODTK Single license goes away and MSS is now the "regular" ODTK license. Additionally, ODTK GNSS is included with the purchase of ODTK, but the license is not included in the delivery unless the customer requests it specifically. This is because ODTK GNSS can be an overwhelming product for new users and AGI would like to make sure customers with ODTK GNSS get the support they need to be successful. You manage these licenses using the Ansys License Manager.
  1. The ODTK license gives you all capabilities in ODTK except for the ability to estimate the state of GNSS satellites. You can still process GNSS measurements, just not estimate the state of the GNSS satellites themselves.
  2. ODTK GNSS is the same as #3 above.
