If you have more than one license file that needs to be installed on the same license server, there are two ways to install the licenses to avoid having one move into a backup directory. Option 1 uses the Ansys License Manager, which provides a GUI for ease of use. Option 2 uses the Enterprise License Manager, which is a command-line tool. Both require you to Run As Administrator. Below are instructions for the two options.
1. Ansys license manager (GUI)
If you choose to use the Ansys License Manager, do not BROWSE to load a new file. Instead, simply place your new license file in the directory that the Ansys License Manager expects to find them (normally C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\licensing\license_files). Then stop and restart the Ansys License Manager from the
Home -> View Status/Start/Stop License Manager page.
2. Enterprise License Manager (command-line)
Make sure that you place all license files within the default directory structure. You can customize the license paths if needed but then you will need to use the environment variable ANSYSLIC_DIR to locate the correct path. Once all license files are in the default folder or the environment variable is set, all license files (*.lic) will be used.
